Cy Karrat was born and raised in Upstate New York where his parents immigrated from Lebanon. His passion for photography started young and led him to study photography and film at the NYU Tisch School of Arts in New York and Paris, that culminated in his thesis work of male portraiture showcased at NYU’s Gulf and Western Galleries.
An industry staple for almost two decades, Cy launched his career as a First-Assistant to world-renowned photographers David LaChapelle, Rankin, Francesco Carrozzini and others. Cy has worked on large scale shoots for global brands, magazines and celebrities on locations around the world. During this time he gained the experience that has shaped the style of photography that he delivers today.
Cy is known for his expert ability to shoot on-location in unique and exotic settings. His skillful integration of subject and lighting creates an authentic natural moment which blurs the line between fine art and advertising.
Published in L’Uomo Vogue under the editorship of Franca Scozzani, movie advertising campaigns for Focus Feature Films and Universal Pictures, album covers for Sony Music and signature menswear campaigns for brands such as Beau Homme are highlights of Cy’s industry work.
Cy lives between New York and London.
